Six weeks and a day down, nine weeks and three days to go (minus Thanksgiving break). This weekend wasn't all that noteworthy; except for a visit by Michael on Saturday and a meeting on Sunday I just stayed in and tried to get caught up with work. Yesterday (Monday) I met up with the people at the communications office to talk about their plans for a blog on the Colgate website. They gave me access to their site, so I proceeded to build their entire site in a couple of hours. Probably not the wisest decision in terms of planning, but oh well...

By popular demand department

• Top left - A panorama picture of the 84 Broad St. back yard. I took about 40 pictures with various expore times. I finally settled on 1/750 seconds. I then did a quick and dirty collage in photoshop, matching up the pictures manually.
• Top right - This is a picture of the Windows lab. Although it doesn't show, the lab was actually completely dark at the time, and it was pitch black outside as well. The exposure time was 64s, so I actually went out and locked the room while it was taking the picture. I really like the way the lights on the computers light up.
• Middle left - Another picture taken in the lab at night, with half the expore time of the other one. I like the effect.
• Middle right - Bigfoot sighting in the computer science lounge! I took this with SEPIA color, 1/45s of exposure while slightly moving the camera along. I couldn't put my finger on what the picture reminded me off, until Hunter (the guy in the shot) mentioned it. This took place on Monday afternoon.
• Bottom left - This is a picture I took on Friday. The 'subject' is Charlotte Jablonski, the Department's Administrative Assistant. The exposure was 1/3s, so I had to prop the camera. I used the self-timer so my pressing the button wouldn't move the image.
• Bottom right - This is Kaleena on Monday evening, preparing for her Fullbright interview. I made the f-stop as small as possible in an attempt to get the background-piece-of-couch to be blurry. I think it worked out pretty well, although the shot is a little bit moved.

And other than that department

Well... not much news beyond that what's above. It's getting chilly here at Colgate, so I'm slowly beginning to switch to some warmer attire. Over the weekend I worked on my ACM application, writing the letter and generally finding out how hard that is all over again. I made some corrections to that yesterday, finished it up this morning and finally put it in the mail along with my transcript. Glad to have that out of the way. I actually liked the letter a lot; I was able to fix it up quite nicely.

Oh that's coming up quickly department

I have a lab due tomorrow, and I really need to catch up on my German as well. (Monday's German class was interesting by the way -- we had the Clinton High School kids come over (as opposed to video conferencing with them).) Next week Tuesday is my 'Department Tea' talk about the work I've done so far for Jack Nevison. On that note, I need to get started on Jack Nevison's work as well...
