Snow Time!
As Bridget mentioned, real snow has finally come to Colgate University. I took a few pictures of it this morning, but fortunately (?) it stopped snowing shortly after I made my way up to class. In short: I only have one decent picture of the snow. The other ones are just random shots I made on my way down the hill today. More news as the story unfolds...
On a Students and Alumni for Colgate side note.
Oh before I forget. Something I read on the Students and Alumni for Colgate forum, in a post by someone named 'Elizabeth 99':
[...] This is a little thing called freedom of speech. As a conservative with four years of capitol hill legislative experience, do you think I lashed out at every Kerry supporter on every website i could find? Not a chance, I listened to all points of view and I had enough faith in the rational people to deliver such a mandate as we saw in the election.
To me, actions speak louder than words. I personally don't think it's right that first week freshman year my RA made all of the girls in our dorm put a condom on a banana...that's not what parents or students, or even the colgate financial aid department should be paying 40k a year for. But they do, and I dealt with it.
So I suggest you deal with people expressing their opinions, because they will do and say what they want, and its a testament to this great nation of ours to let all voices be heard.
'Elizabeth 99,' on the Students and Alumni for Colgate forum.
Ok so let's do the math. Class of '99, so her freshman year was 1995 (assuming she managed to finish Colgate in four years anyway). This person works for the government, thinks that Bush got re-elected because rational people voted exclusively for him, and is holding a nine-years-and-running grudge against Colgate over a banana and a condom. Great stuff -- I'm glad SA4C has provoked this type of debate.
On the personal 'front'
Not much going on over here. I've just had a pretty solid Monday, and now I'm going to study for my Theory of Computing exam on Wednesday and my German exam on Thursday. Last night I did some exciting network related stuff with Java, so I'll have budget my time this week and not get too distracted. Cheers!

Students and Alumni for Colgate is an interesting organization. I've spoken to a bunch of Alums who have done their best to assure us that they do NOT feel the same way about Colgate.
reply to this commentAnyway, as to the comment from the site, isn't learning how to use condoms an important skill? Maybe 'Elizabeth 99' doesn't have a need for them, which is OK... But someone needs to teach kids how to protect themselves. I, for one, appreciate the fact that someone would care enough to teach poor, naive froshies something that is very necessary for the average college student.
Perhaps some people think that Colgate should not evolve with the times, but I think they're wrong. (And I have the right to say so because I can express my opinions and "its a testament to this great nation of ours to let all voices be heard.")

Almost 7 o'clock am here. When I look outside I see a clear sky and that means it's cold outside. First time temperatures dropped below 0. I have to leave for work now, so I will leave a message later today.
Love Kim

heey honey, how did your exam go? It is getting absurdly busy at work. Apart from keeping the youngsters in school there are a lot of other things screaming for my attention. Luckily Mariska (colleague) will join the .... what is leerplicht in English.... team in a few weeks. Ah food on the table. Talk to you later... again

Is that the same Pieter with the two left hands I know? The one that only recognises breakfast when it's prepared by someone else? Or any other meal for that matter?

To our small nation it's also a testament to let all voices be heard. But it's not always healthy to do so. About bananas will still can say what we want. God bless Holland.
