Colgate Book Exchange advertising hits Newark Airport
In my never ending quest to out-spend the Colgate Book Store on advertising, my table tents have now spread to Newark Liberty International Airport. Ok so actually I just put it there for the picture...
I'm HOOOOOOOOOOOOME
This is just a quick post to stay in the groove of things. Basically, it comes down to:
- Our trips went pretty much as scheduled; Kaleena and I parted ways in Syracuse (where we had adjacent gates
)
- Both our trips were rather long. People on airplanes are annoying.
So much for the common denominators. I landed at Amsterdam Airport around 7:45 this morning, local time. During my trip I experienced the following nuisances:
- Screaming kids. Not as bad as they can be during the flight, but during my (long) layover in New Jersey they seemed to be following me around for the sole purpose of making phone conversations impossible.
- People deafness/dumbness. Ok people, when they tell you to go have your I 94's taken from your passport at the information desk, this does NOT mean "Line up by the gate door that's locked and not going to open for another 30 minutes anyway." See the subtle difference?
The I94 is a small document that gets stapled to your passport when you enter the US. It's green for temporary visitors and white for visa holders. It *must* be taken out by the airline when you leave, or getting back into the US at a later date will be a royal pain (or so I've heard). The first thing I do when I get to my last stop inside the US is *make* the airline representative take it.
- Plane fullness. The plane was over booked, so by the time we finally got into the air every last seat was taken. Call me old-fashioned, but in a situation like that you do not put your seat all the way back to the point where it's practically in the other person's lap.
- Laughing like there's no tomorrow. This one is new to me. At some point during the flight, there was apparently a seriously funny sitcom on the video system. Then, for some reason, everybody decided to watch it and burst into this hysterical holler with the other random strangers. The main instigator here, of course, was the guy sitting right behind me...
So much for my little travelling pet peeves. On the bright side: I was that much happier to get home. Plus I got to see Hero, which is a pretty cool movie; basically a more artistic/less exciting/very different blend of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (with a different-but-similar story).
Aside from home I am also quite pooped, so that's all for now. In case the above has you convinced that I'm an inconsiderate jerk: wait until you see my IQ
Cheers.
Kaleena:
ooo...my family bought hero, so I'll get to see it too
Totally yummy. Eeyore and I slept well last night, so all is well. Unfortunately, today was a snow cleaning day as we got a foot of snow. That was not so fun. But after a good lunch, I'm just about ready to do absolutely NOTHING! Woot!
reply to this commentMy trip was uneventful, other than the airport changing my gate 5 different times...that was fun. Anyway, my aunt picked me up and we got home. I got to eat Kimchi chigae

inspired by Kaleena — #1 We have some Kimchi here in the fridge. KJ made Kimchi pancake last week... that didn't turn out that well, but it was only the first attempt. 희수 made the Kimchi. So now everything in the fridge smells like Kimchi. hihi. I have some other Korean stuff in the freezer... dunno the name, but I will look it up. SOme time ago I went to a Korean supermarket in Rotterdam and there I bought noodlesoup in I don't know how many diffirent tastes. Lovely! (저는) 불고기를좋아합니다.
Where will you stay in Korea? 한국말을배웁니다. I am really starting to like it! But it's quite difficult and I think it will take me a few years to be able to have a simple comversation in Korean since I am just following lessons on Saturdays.
Please give your family my love. Ask them: 안녕하십니까? And again: Have fun in Korea!

inspired by Pieter Hooimeijer — #4 I like Bulgogi. I am studying Korean. Be at peace.... or as we know it: How are you doing
Just small sentences we learned at Korean class the past few weeks.
By the way Pieter, Patrick will be home late today so we are going there on Wednesday instead of today.
I got up at 6.30 thismorning. Not realising that my first meeting is at 9 in Rotterdam... I could have stayed in bed for another hour. Never mind...
