Saturday November 4th, after coffee time

It's been a busy month in Virginia. All of my classes are officially beyond the 'you probably already know this' point. As a result, I'm ever so slightly behind in some of them; I'm still waiting for a stray weekend to happen so I can catch up.

My weekends have been pretty eventful lately (see title). Please note that all of the following is in addition to my... er... usual weekend activities.

The weekend following my most recent post, I went hiking in Shenandoah National Park with Steve, a fellow grad student. The hike was mostly downhill for the first half, which turned the second half into some decent exercise.

The week following that, the CAMBC hosted its fourth annual Wild Ride. We basically went up Buck Mountain on the road, followed by an amazing descent through the woods. It was an awesome ride, although I did end up with some bruises and all of $15 worth of damage to my bike. Special thanks to the folks who drove me and my bike there and back 8)

Last weekend was marked less by the outdoors and much more by the ACM Intercollegiate Programming Contest. This is the ultimate geek fest I participated in twice before at Colgate, with varying (but consistently low) degrees of success. This time I went with two of the students I TA for, Jake and Louise, and life was relatively good -- we won the competition at our site, and we came in 5th out of 135 teams competing in the region.

This weekend has been a little more low-key. I played (American-style) indoor soccer games yesterday and today, and I'm planning a quick mountain biking trip for tomorrow (Sunday). Oh and I might try catching up on work sometime soooon :-p

    inspired by Bridget — #2 Heey Bridget. Nathan is doing very well. He is becoming what we call a 'rolmops'... it means he's getting a bit chubby (round cheeks and an extra chin LOL). He is groing fast, starts smiling and sleeps better at night. He's very funny and can't focus very well yet. So, when Pieter comes home for the holidays (HINT... I hope he does) he will find a happy and chubby young Nathan.
    How are you doing and what are you doing Bridget?

    I'm good, still in school, I start student-teaching at high schools in January. Nervous, but looking forward to it at the same time. Can't wait for winter break, though. My boyfriend, Johny, and I are going on a trip to London and Edinburgh, so I am excited for that! =O)

    inspired by Pieter Hooimeijer — #6 lol, we'll be in the UK from December 28-January 4. Alix Quinn is also going to be there at around that time, so I'm hoping to meet up with her at some point. Johny also has a friend in London who he wants to meet up with. Apparently Edinburgh is a very popular New Year's destination, which we didn't know...made booking a room very difficult, but at least they're throwing us a party! Yeah, so we're going from London (Milton Keynes, technically) to Edinburgh, and back to London.

    Here in Holland everything is going well. You heard about the elections? The weather is extremly low for this time of the year..

    Tonight we're going to your "Sista" Kim and her new little friend! Also your mother is comming! It is a long time ago that I saw them. About more then 10 years...
